Makenna was born and raised in Utah where she started her journey in the tattoo and piercing industry in 2016. In 2017 she moved to Maui and began searching for a new studio. She came across Soular Tattoo in 2019 and was a full time piercer there until the Lahaina fires took the studio in 2023. Just a few short months later we found a new location in Wailuku and opened our doors in November of 2023. In November of 2025 Makenna opened Mauis first piercing only studio in Wailea "Golden Edge Piercing" and works out of both studios. Makenna has several achievements including an APP membership and is on the pro team for Buddha Jewelry.

In the beginning of 2025 Makenna collaborated with Buddha Jewelry to launch a Maui collection. A portion of these proceeds is donated to the Lahaina Land Trust- keeping Lahaina lands in Lahaina hands. This collection is sold all over the world generating a constant flow into this fund.

Her favorite piercings to do are conch and helix piercings. "There are so many jewelry options for these placements, I love a good statement piece"
